Baba Chessy and Bianca Medieval Mysteries is a book series about a medieval midwife and her cat Bianca who escaped from a witch hunt and made their way to a Dalmatian island, where they found refuge in a sleepy village, hoping to hide from their pursuers, the ecclesiastical tribunal called the Inquisition. As they began to interact with the villagers, they were called upon to help solve mysteries.
In Volume Three of the series, they help save a village girl from being abducted and a city girl from being hanged for murder, and they help save a village girl from sacrificial death by a deranged religious fanatic.
As Baba Chessy became more and more involved in village life and re-engaged in the everyday struggles of her fellow villagers, she found her bruised and closed heart opening.
