Baba Chessy and Bianca Medieval Mysteries is a book series about a medieval midwife and her cat Bianca who escaped from a witch hunt and made their way to a Dalmatian island, where they found refuge in a sleepy village, hoping to hide from their pursuers, the ecclesiastical tribunal called the Inquisition. As they began to interact with the villagers, they were called upon to help solve mysteries.
In Volume Four of the series, Baba Chessy and Bianca help rescue two Gypsy slaves and expose the thief who stole a chest of gold, in the story Chains of Evil. In the story Cages of Despair they save the life of a princess who escaped from the harem of the Ottoman Sultan and they help rescue her sister who had been enslaved by a Duke.
As Baba Chessy became more and more involved in village life and engaged in the everyday struggles of her fellow villagers, she found love and connection returning to her heart.
